The Genie Is Out Of The Bottle

 I don't like Donald Trump. I never have and I never will. I haven't liked him since the first time I ever set eyes on him as a reality show host.

Having said the above , what he has done for Americans, and for the rest of the world, is pulled the curtain back on the internal problems facing the USA. These are far, far bigger they they were ever willing to admit . The same as parents not prepared to face the drug addict child, or the alcoholic spouse. 

USA has problems. Big ones. And it will take a mammoth effort to turn the ship around. The genie is truly out of the bottle and their is no turning back. 

I was fortunate to have visited the USA a few times and I was , in hindsight, fortunate that my GPS took me through skidrow in LA back in 2012. It was an eyeopener.

All the US politicians, both red and blue,  have been kicking the proverbial can down the road for the last number of decades and this sore has been allowed to fester and boil. 

I recall watching a Canadian film about Jesse Owens, the Track and Field star of the 1936 Olympics in pre-war Germany. I was mortified to discover that Jesse Owens was not acknowledged by the USA government for decades. There.Is.No.Excuse!   And that it took a Canadian company to produce this is shocking in itself.  

So here is the take-away from the Trump presidency.

• Hollywood has to reinvent itself as their patriotic chants will fall on deaf ears. I for one, will not watch a USA film with patriotism is the cornerstone. There is no patriotism, that is clear. 
• The US Dollar, has lost its global grip on economies and I see a systematic collapse of the currency on the global stage as alternatives are used in an increasing amount. The amount of currency that has been printed by the Federal Reserve will now come back to haunt them for a generation ....at least. 
• If red and blue do not iron out there differences for the most part within the next 4 years , the USA will become a failed state. History appears to show that regardless of science, facts , the respective parties remain, for the most,  blindly loyal to the party of their choice. Till death us do part.
• Synthetic media, Deep Fakes, Infocolypse , will speed up the demise of democracies in countries globally , and maybe more so in the USA which appears to be very slow in changing direction. 
• All the above plays directly into the hands of the Chinese, so if it is said in the future that at least Trump never took USA to war during his term , he actually did. He took the USA to war against itself and created a civil war, and he lost to a biological threat in the form of Covid-19. 

So maybe, just maybe the Trump term of Presidency was just what the USA needed, an eye-watering, mouth-opening Aha moment to take remedial action. Is Joe Biden the right person for the job. No, is my quick answer and yes is my quick answer. No because of his age and certain the decline in his health, but yes if he surrounds himself now with the right people who will keep the momentum going regardless whether Joe Biden stays a full term of not. 

For some odd reason, which I haven't fathomed out, the USA remains a focal point of fixation for the rest of the world. for this reason I truly hope they can turn the corner and recreate a perceived sense of greatness again.  But with their recovery, I hope comes a large sense of humility.
